APTA Acute Care Podcast Co-Host

Overview:

APTA Acute Care is seeking a podcast cohost(s) with a passion for professional growth, the ability to engage listeners, and a willingness to collaborate creatively on podcast initiatives. The Podcast Subcommittee resides under APTA Acute Care Communications Committee. The Podcast Co-Host will work directly with the Podcast Subcommittee Chair and other members of the Podcast team. Currently, we have one Podcast Co-Host and are recruiting for an additional Co-Host(s). We are looking for an additional co-host to join our team and help create compelling content that advances awareness of APTA Acute Cre. As a co-host, you will collaborate with the host and Co-Producers to deliver entertaining, informative, and thought-provoking episodes that align with our podcast's theme and goals.

Report to: Podcast Subcommittee Chair

Term: Prefer a 2-year term but willing to discuss with the right candidate.

Position Objective: To advance awareness of APTA Acute Care. The Co-Host will share the responsibility of presenting, discussing topics, and bringing a different perspective and contributing to a more dynamic and engaging conversation for our audience.

Using available resources for APTA Acute Care and your desire to engage and educate listeners, you will be able to benefit the Academy and be a part of furthering engagement and disseminating information with our members and listeners. Your contributions will assist the Academy in maximizing member engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. On-Air Presence: Co-host podcast episodes with charisma, professionalism, and enthusiasm, engaging in meaningful conversations with guests and the primary host.
  2. Content Development: Collaborate on topics, themes, and discussion points for each episode, ensuring they align with the podcast’s tone and audience interests.
  3. Research: Prepare for episodes by researching topics, guests, and trends to provide valuable insights during discussions.
  4. Interviewing: Help lead interviews with guests, asking thoughtful questions and facilitating engaging dialogue.
  5. Audience Engagement: Participate in building and maintaining relationships with listeners via social media, live events, or other channels.
  6. Creative Input: Contribute ideas for new segments, formats, or series to keep the podcast fresh and innovative.
  7. Promotion: Assist in promoting episodes on social media, coordinating with the marketing team to expand the podcast's reach.
  8. Technical Awareness: Work closely with the production team to ensure high-quality audio, provide input on editing, and support recording logistics as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a Member of APTA Acute Care
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills with a confident, clear, and relatable voice.
  • Collaborative Nature: Ability to work effectively with a team, including the host, other co-hosts, and co-producers.
  • Creativity: A knack for storytelling and a creative approach to podcasting.
  • Passion: Genuine interest in the podcast’s subject matter and enthusiasm for engaging with the audience.
  • Professionalism: Punctual, reliable, and well-prepared for recording sessions.
  • Experience: Previous hosting, public speaking, or podcasting experience is a plus but not mandatory.

Commitment/Time Required:

  • Recording Schedule: Episodes average around 1 hour of recording and are edited down to approximately 40 minutes of produced time.
  • Frequency: The Academy’s goal is to produce and release episodes every two weeks, requiring regular prep time to maintain the schedule.
  • Team Communication: The team communicates primarily via text, supplemented by 1-3 virtual meetings per year.
  • Volunteer Commitment: While it is a volunteer role, it is relatively busy due to the recurring production and prep work.

Training and Support

The Chair of the Podcast Subcommittee, along with the Co-Host, will orient this position to the different platforms used, equipment, and the scheduling process. Information is stored and shared via a google drive, email, and texting.
