Description:

APTA is planning to nominate members for the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine's Forum on Traumatic Brain Injury.
  • Deadline to apply for APTA nomination is November 19th.

National Academies is looking to fill 5-8 open seats on the committee and collect information for potential speakers, participants, and peer reviewers for the Forum's activities. Based on the Statement of Task and the continuing membership of the committee, National Academies is looking for expertise particularly in the following areas:

  • Discovery research, including injury biomechanics, neuroscience
  • Clinical and translational research, including biomarkers, imaging, clinical trials
  • TBI surveillance and prevention
  • Lived and family/caregiver experience related to TBI
  • Diagnosis and acute care, including prehospital, emergency/trauma, sports medicine
  • Neuropsychiatry/psychology and mental health
  • Rehabilitation and recovery after TBI
  • Care models and health systems
  • Health policy, payment, and economics.
  • Other expertise not specified, but important to the Forum's mission
