Volunteer Opportunity Details

The American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS), the governing body for certification and recertification for clinical specialists in physical therapy, is accepting nominations for one board-certified clinical specialist in sports, and one board-certified clinical specialist in orthopaedics. Appointments are for a four-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2026.

Eligibility Requirements:
Members of ABPTS may not concurrently hold a primary APTA section office (ie, president, vice president, secretary, or treasurer), as it could present a conflict of interest between the two groups. Experience with Specialty Council or related activities (eg, external Professional Development Portfolio reviewer, standard setting participant), Specialization Academy of Content Experts (SACE), and/or American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE) is required. Recency of active engagement will be taken into consideration during selection process.
