Overview:
APTA Acute Care is seeking an assistant producer with a passion for professional growth, the ability to engage listeners, and a willingness to collaborate creatively on podcast initiatives. The Podcast Subcommittee resides under APTA Acute Care Communications Committee. The Podcast Assistant Producer will work directly with the Podcast Subcommittee Chair and other members of the Podcast team. Currently, we have two Executive Producers that edit, publish, and promote the podcast are recruiting and assistant for additional help. We are looking for an individual with technical skills to assist in editing and promoting our episodes. help create compelling content that advances awareness of APTA Acute Cre. As an assistant producer, you will collaborate with the Co-Producers to deliver entertaining, informative, and thought-provoking episodes that align with our podcast's theme and goals.
Report to: Podcast Subcommittee Chair
Term: Prefer a 2-year term but willing to discuss with the right candidate.
Position Objective: To advance awareness of APTA Acute Care. The assistant editor will assist with video/audio editing, creating show notes, and publishing on social media to ensure timely production of episodes while collaborating with the team to select guests and advance the mission of the podcast.

Your contributions will assist the Academy in maximizing member engagement while helping the team produce and promote episodes in a timely fashion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Video/audio editing: Assist the Executive Producers with editing each episode for published on podcast platforms and Youtube
- Show Notes Development: Assist in the creation of show notes, reviewing guest jot form submissions, adding links to help promote each podcast episode.
- Promotion: Assist with content creation and posting on social media platforms.
- Creative Input: Contribute ideas for new segments, formats, or series to keep the podcast fresh and innovative.
Qualifications:
- Must be a Member of APTA Acute Care
- Collaborative Nature: Ability to work effectively with a team, including the host, other co-hosts, and co-producers.
- Technical Skills: Must comfortable with numerous online platforms necessary for episode production
- Professionalism: Punctual, reliable, and prepared to respond to quick turnaround times.
Commitment/Time Required:
- Recording Schedule: Episodes average around 1 hour of recording and are edited down to approximately 40 minutes of produced time.Editing an episode typically takes 2-3x the length of an episode.Editing would be a shared responsibility.
- Frequency: The Academy’s goal is to produce and release episodes every two weeks, requiring regular prep time to maintain the schedule.
- Team Communication: The team communicates primarily via text, supplemented by 1-3 virtual meetings per year.
- Volunteer Commitment: While it is a volunteer role, it is relatively busy due to the recurring production and prep work.
Training and Support:
The Chair of the Podcast Subcommittee who serves as Executive Director in charge of editing, scheduling, and show notes and the second Executive Director who publishes and promotes the episodes will orient this position to the different platforms used, equipment, and the scheduling process. Information is stored and shared via a google drive, email, and texting.
