Arlington, VA Head Start Presentation - Presenter Needed

Starts: 05-25-2024

Description:

We’ve been invited to Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS) Arlington Mill Early Head Start Center.  This center brings field trip experiences and special activities to their site for their youngest learners.  NVFS is inviting a range of special guests from the local community, including the Arlington Fire Department, Police Department, EMTs, Arlington Public Library, waste management, pet rescue organizations, and more.

What is Early Head Start?

Early Head Start programs provide services for low-income families with very young children. These programs are designed to promote the development of the children, and to enable their parents to fulfill their roles as parents and to move toward self-sufficiency.  Early Head Start programs provide similar services as preschool Head Start programs, but they are tailored for the unique needs of infants and toddlers (0-3).  NVFS’ Early Head Start at the Arlington Mill Community Center has three classrooms with eight children in each classroom (one baby classroom and two classes for the 1–2-year-olds).  Once children turn three (3) they then graduate to our Head Start Center.

What does an Early Head Start Special Guest do?

Please come to the Arlington Mill Early Head Start Center in Arlington for one hour and a half (1 ½ hours) in May, June, or July between 10:00-11:30 a.m.  They are asking each special guest/group to plan for about 30 minutes for each class. The schedule would be as follows:

  • 10:00 – 10:30 am
  • 10:30 – 11:00 am
  • 11:00 am – 11:30 am

NVFS invites their special guests to read a book, lead a hands-on activity and/or share a special talent such as yoga, music, dance, art, gardening, science, animals or more.
