APTA National - Value-Based Payment and Quality Experts

Signup Deadline: 05-01-2022
Starts: 05-02-2022
Ends: 01-01-2023

Description:

APTA is seeking qualified members to serve in various positions with federal agencies creating and implementing value-based care models, quality payment programs as well as designing the measures of cost and quality that are used to score these programs. Opportunities may include serving on a CMS technical expert panel to design MIPS measures, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's National Advisory Council, or the National Quality Forum's Measure Applications Partnership among others.

Members should have some experience in and understanding of quality payment models such as MIPS, APMs, episodic or bundled payment models, accountable care, and capitated payments. Members need not know every model intimately, but some background understanding of these models is required. Members should also have an understanding of quality and cost measures, their development and their implementation in real practice settings. Finally, members should have a strong understanding of the particular challenges and barriers the physical therapy profession faces in participating in these models and utilizing these measures.

Some opportunities may be setting or condition specific, but PTs and PTAs from all settings and specialties are encouraged to apply.

Each opportunity will vary in the length of time members are expected to serve, the frequency of meetings and the need for travel. However most opportunities do not exceed one meeting a month and most offer the ability to participate virtually.

This is not an APTA-appointed position. Completion of this APTA Engage application will add the applicant to the pool of members APTA draws from in order to find an appropriate candidate. When APTA nominates a candidate, the nomination is sent directly to the Federal agency. The federal contractor is responsible for selecting appointees and any future communications on appointment status will come directly from the federal contractor. APTA will always reach out to interested members directly before submission of a nomination to the federal agency in order to ensure the member is willing and available to serve.
