APTA National - PTJ Journal Club hosted by APTA – Panelist Opportunity

Signup Deadline: 12-30-2024
Starts: 12-31-2024
Ends: 12-31-2024
Location: Online Opportunity

Description:

APTA is seeking enthusiastic clinicians to participate in a recorded panel discussion with PTJ authors. Volunteers will focus on applying key research findings in different clinical environments. This is a great opportunity to engage with fellow professionals and contribute to meaningful discussions that bridge the gap between research and practice.

These recoded discussions (4 in total) will be compiled into a 1-hour journal club and posted into APTA’s Learning Center. Total time commitment will be approximately 1-2 hours. This includes reviewing the article, formulating 1-2 discussion questions (optional), and then discussing the article with one other clinician and one of the article’s authors.

We will review 4 articles in total and are seeking 2 clinicians to discuss each article (8 volunteers total). The articles we plan to feature and discuss are listed below. If you are interested, in your application, please indicate your top 2 choices of articles to discuss. Discussions will take place in November or December 2024, and the date will be agreed upon by all panelists.

Articles we will feature from Advances in Rehabilitation Technology (PTJ Special Issue):

1.      Use of a Home-Based, Commercial Exercise Platform to Remotely Monitor Aerobic Exercise Adherence and Intensity in People with Parkinson Disease

2.      Application of Artificial intelligence in Infant Movement Classification: A Reliability and Validity Study in Infants Who Were Full-Term and Preterm

Articles we will feature from Health Disparities in Rehabilitation (PTJ Special Issue):

1.      Comparing Physical Activity and Exercise Experiences, Values, and Beliefs of Latino, Latina, and /or Latine People and Non-Latino, Non-Latina, and/or Non-Latine People with Parkinson Disease: A Qualitative Study

2.      Transgender, Gender-Diverse and Nonbinary Experiences in Physical Therapy: A Descriptive Qualitative Study
