Volunteer Opportunity Details

The Section Programming Chair position is a 2-person shared position. Program activities of APTA Geriatrics include evaluation of the education needs of the members and determination of appropriate programming and course offerings for the annual Combined Sections Meeting (CSM). The Chairs schedule all APTA Geriatrics events at CSM. The Chairs are available at all times during CSM as needs may arise to ensure successful APTA Geriatrics programing.

1. 1. Conform with APTA’s Meeting Services Department’s deadlines.
   2. Collect and approve handouts from speakers and notify AMPED when cleared to post to website/app.
   3. Initiate and maintain procedural documents related to programming.
   4. Review all onsite program information as required by APTA meeting services staff.
   5. Have direct communication with APTA conference staff regarding all program sessions during conference.
   6. Submit and maintain event sheets for programming to the APTA.
   7. Work with other academies to make CSM a multi-academy meeting through cosponsoring events.
   8. Communicate any on-site issues with programming to APTA's Meeting Services Department staff.
   9. Establish and maintain communication among other Academies concerning programming.

Qualifications:

Must be a member of the Academy on Geriatric Physical Therapy.

Must be detail-oriented and able to multitask.

Must maintain a working e-mail address in APTA’s database.

Must generally be able to respond to member and officer queries sent via e-mail or phone within one week.

Commitment: 3-year term, estimated 15-20 hours per month; heavier prior to and during conferences.
