Task Force to Explore a Bid to Host the World Physiotherapy Congress

The World Physiotherapy Congress occurs every two years in locations around the globe. Interested members of World Physiotherapy may submit bids to host the congress. APTA last hosted this meeting in 1995 and would like to assess the viability and opportunity to host the meeting in 2027. The task force will review the process, assess the potential, and determine the viability and opportunity of APTA submitting a bid to host the World Physiotherapy Congress in 2027.  

QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPLICANTS  

Required qualifications:

• APTA membership for those eligible.
• Status as a licensed physical therapist or a licensed or certified physical therapist assistant as applicable.

Preferred qualifications: 

• Experience in presenting and participating in conference programming and organization.
• Past attendance at the World Physiotherapy Congress.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: finance, business operations, meetings, and organizational management.

MEETINGS

The task force will conduct its work virtually. The potential for an in-person meeting at APTA CSM or APTA Leadership Congress in 2023 will be considered.

SIZE OF APPOINTED GROUP

Seven individuals: One Board chair and six other members including: one component executive, two component presidents, one internationally educated member or nonmember affiliate, and two at-large members. Within your application, please indicate which of these roles you would fill.
