Description:

APTA Geriatrics is expanding to meet the needs of the student members. If you are a student looking for an opportunity to volunteer and to be a part of creating opportunities for students like you, now is your chance!

The purpose of the student task force is to create and develop opportunities for student involvement within APTA Geriatrics.

The student task force will consist of the 2021 APTA Centennial Scholar and 4 student members. Membership is FREE to students and required for participation in the task force.


Duties of the Task Force:
- Identify where student placement should exist within the Academy and outline roles and responsibilities
- Update the student page on APTA Geriatrics website to streamline access to resources
- Raise awareness of geriatric academy to students and professors to increase advocacy for geriatric population
- Generate and monitor social media outlets to improve engagement of members and nonmembers
- Prepare a proposal for the board of APTA Geriatrics to implement solutions for enhanced student engagement
- Implement programs to enhance membership and engage student members
- Attend monthly meetings to engage with other APTA geriatric students and members to collaborate on project initiatives

The student task force was created to facilitate a pro-student environment to promote realistic, sustainable and valuable solutions to enhance student opportunity within the Academy. Joining this task will give you a voice in how students, just like you, can meaningfully engage with APTA Geriatrics and with the larger profession. The cultivation of student-focused and student driven initiatives is critical to the longevity of the Academy of Geriatrics, and we need your opinions and engagement to make it happen!
