Description:

APTA is looking for up to 6 PTs/PTAs to volunteer for a community Falls Prevention Clinic on Tuesday, November 28, from 11 am - 1 pm ET at a local recreation center - Mount Vernon Recreation Center (2701 Commonwealth Ave. Alexandria VA 22305). Volunteers must be available on-site for this event, and hold an active license in Virginia.

We plan on using the CDC’s STEADI (Stopping Elderly Accidents, Deaths & Injuries), and our volunteer clinicians will perform tests/measures of the assessment, give encouraging results at the end, and take vitals before and after the clinic portion. APTA staff volunteers will administer the falls questionnaire for a thorough falls risk assessment.   

The tests/measures portion will include: 30-Second Chair Stand Test, 4-Stage Balance Test, and the Timed Up and Go (TUG) Test.
