APTA is seeking one member to serve as the Elections Committee Vice Chair for a three-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2023. The Elections Committee Vice Chair, working in collaboration with the Chair, ensures that national elections held during the House of Delegates are operated with confidence, consistency, and abide by APTA bylaws, standing rules, and association processes.
The Elections Committee is a committee of the House of Delegates and is appointed by the Officers of the House of Delegates.
CHARGE
The Elections Committee ensures that national elections held during the House of Delegates abide by APTA bylaws, standing rules, and association processes, and are operated with confidence and consistency.
The chair presents the teller’s report to the House.
All APTA appointed groups will conduct their work with the American Physical Therapy Association Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in mind and in the context of (1) APTA's Mission, Vision, Strategic Plan and House of Delegates and Board of Directors adopted positions and policies; and (2) the potential for their work to have implications related to physical therapist assistants, women, diversity, and risk management.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTEES

Knowledge of APTA’s national election structure.

Ability to maintain neutrality and confidentiality throughout the candidacy and election cycles.

Ability to anticipate challenges and remain calm and confident under pressure.

Comfort with technology.
MEETINGS
The committee meets virtually in the months leading up to the House of Delegates to review elections processes and procedures.
SIZE
The Elections Committee consists of two members including the chair and vice chair. The Vice Speaker of the House of Delegates is the Board liaison.
TERMS
Members shall serve three-year terms with the chair and vice chair appointed on alternating years.
