The American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties is now accepting applications for 2025 volunteer opportunities with the Specialization Academy of Content Experts.
Eligibility and Commitment
SACE was established to create a pool of certified specialists and content experts to write items for specialist certification examinations. All applicants, excluding those for wound management, must be ABPTS board-certified clinical specialists in one or more of the following practice areas:
- Cardiovascular and Pulmonary
- Clinical Electrophysiology
- Geriatrics
- Neurology
- Oncology
- Orthopaedics
- Pediatrics
- Sports
- Women's Health
- Wound Management
Applicants must complete the online course "Specialist Certification Examination Item Writing: An Overview" and submit a sample exam question. Access to the course is provided during the application process.
SACE appointments are for two years and begin Jan 1, 2025. Newly appointed members must commit to attending an item writing virtual training session in January 2025, and the item writing workshop at APTA's 2025 Combined Sections Meeting in Houston, TX. Newly appointed SACE members are required to develop three to five exam questions for use during this CSM training session, and during their two-year term SACE members must commit to writing eight to 12 exam questions annually.
Once you sign-up for this ABPTS volunteer opportunity, you will be provided access to the SACE application in a confirmation email. The application submission deadline is April 30, 2024.
