Description:

APTA's Awards Committee is seeking 3 members to serve a 2-year term on the Lecture Awards Subcommittee.

The Awards Committee subcommittees will apply the criteria established by the Board of Directors (Board) for each association honor and award to each nomination received for each award under its purview and make recommendations to the Board regarding award recipients.

The Board’s determined charge for each Awards Committee Subcommittee is:

  • Review award nominations received for each award that falls under the subcommittee's purview against the applicable criteria established by the Board.
  • Recommend potential recipients to the Board for final approval.
  • When requested by the Board, review and make recommendations on proposals for new awards applicable to the subcommittee's award category and provide feedback on the utility of the criteria and measurement tools for existing awards within the subcommittee's purview.
  • Submit a report to the Board on an annual basis.

This subcommittee will review nominations received for the following awards:

Mary McMillan Lecture
The Mary McMillan Lecture is the most distinguished honor an active APTA member physical therapist or life member can receive. This lecture is regarded as one of APTA’s keystone events. This award recognizes those who have demonstrated exemplary skills in the areas of administration, education, patient care, management, and research.

John H.P. Maley Lecture
The John H.P. Maley Lecture Award is annually presented to an APTA physical therapist member who has demonstrated clinical expertise and significant contributions to the physical therapy profession. The honoree’s lecture is considered to be one of APTA’s annual highlights.
