APTA National - Student Volunteers for NEXT 2020

 Applications for NEXT 2020 student volunteers are now open. Review the below responsibilities, time commitment, and requirements before applying. 

APTA is offering, to all APTA active student members, a chance to volunteer at the NEXT Conference and Exposition this June. APTA will select 50-60 student members on a first-come, first-served basis. In exchange, APTA will reimburse volunteers for $140 of their registration fees at the end of the conference. The NEXT Conference and Exposition is June 3-6, 2020, in Phoenix, Arizona. 

Volunteer responsibilities include:

• Assisting attendees in scanning their conference badges
• Monitoring rooms and room capacity
• Assisting with Poster Presenter Check-in
• Acting as role of Session Chairs; introducing speakers
• Providing general assistance to NEXT attendees

Time commitment:

• Students must attend a 1 hour training meeting on Wednesday, June 3 (information on exact time and location will be shared with selected applicants).
• Volunteer hours will run from 7:00am-5:00pm, from Thursday, June 4 and Friday, June 5 and 6:45am-12:00pm, Saturday, June 6, 2020 – all 3 days of the conference
• Each day will consist of two to three shifts lasting roughly one hour each

Volunteer benefits:

• APTA will reimburse $140 of your Early Bird registration fee, which is $200. (Reimbursement will occur onsite only after all assigned shifts have been completed)
• Student volunteers can attend education sessions, HOWEVER, you will be late to sessions because you will be working. Once your designated shift is over, you are free to attend sessions
• Volunteers have the ability to network with attendees - PTs, PTAs, and students from all over the world
• Volunteers receive a free NEXT volunteer conference t-shirt

Volunteer requirements submission and information:  

• Volunteers must be current APTA student members

• Volunteers will be notified of their acceptance before the March 5 Early Bird deadline.
• Spaces are limited and volunteers are selected on a first-come, first-served basis. The application window closes on March 3, 2020 or once capacity is reached.
