Description:

Call for nominations for an expert APTA Representative in complementary and integrative health to attend the Stakeholder Meeting for Research on Whole Person Health is needed. Can you be that amazing person? This meeting will be held virtually on October 17 to 18, 2022. As a point of clarity, although this is a virtual event, you are required to be available and participate as an APTA representative both days. The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is inviting representatives of organizations to attend and voice their research interests in whole person health.

On the second day of the meeting, October 18th there will be limited time for organization representatives to provide public comment. Meaning, you as an APTA representative should be prepared to provide a comment. Each organization will be limited to 2 minutes, and pre-registration is required. If selected as the APTA representative, you agree to pre-register in a timely manner for this speaking opportunity.

We hope that you will apply for consideration as an APTA representative to attend and participate in this meaningful event.

Background: As a first step in furthering research on whole person health, NCCIH along with several other institutes, centers and offices at the NIH held a workshop on Methodological Approaches for Whole Person Research (https://www.nccih.nih.gov/news/events/methodological-approaches-for-whole-person-research) in September 2021. This workshop highlighted the types of research studies needed to explore the fundamental science of interconnected systems, investigate multicomponent interventions or therapeutic systems, examine the impact of these interventions on multisystem or multiorgan outcomes, and explore methodologies from diverse fields that could be applied to advance whole person research.
