District Chairs needed in Washington state!

Program Goals: District Chairs will be responsible for directing activities in their Membership District and in carrying out the membership recruitment and retention agenda of the Chapter and the Association.

  1. Have the opportunity to engage with members and prospective members about topics of importance to them and to increase grassroots communication between members and leadership.
    3. Network with colleagues, their practices, and others in the different practice arenas.

    5. Develop relationships and contacts with state leaders in the Chapter.

    Responsibilities:
  2. Recruit members to join APTA Washington.
  3. Recruit members to serve as Legislative District Advocates.
  4. Recruit district members to help with procedures.
  5. Communicate membership feedback and questions to the Chapter Board of Directors liaison (Eastern or Western Washington At-Large Director).
  6. Report information provided by Chapter Board Liaison, lobbyist, and through Chapter communications to district membership.
  7. Preside over district meetings.
  8. Handle correspondence.
  9. Maintain social media accounts.
  10. Maintain Chapter District web page.
  11. Provide quarterly reports to Chapter Board of Directors through board liaison and executive director.
  12. Hold at least one district meeting per year.
  13. If offering continuing education credit for a meeting, provide certificates and send attendance records to Chapter office in case of an audit.
  14. Work with Chapter Board of Directors, lobbyist, and staff to coordinate meetings such as legislative town hall meetings or other meetings to meet the strategic goals of the Chapter.
  15. Recruit and compensate speakers, provide refreshments, and other meeting planning duties as necessary.
  16. Stay informed about Chapter and Association activities and news.
  17. Submit quarterly reports to board liaison (Practice Panel Director) and Chapter executive director.

Qualifications:
  • Must be a PT or PTA member in good standing APTA Washington.
  • Must reside or work in the district in which you are the District Chair.
  • Must maintain a working e-mail address in the APTA Washington database.

Training and Supervision: The Eastern or Western At-Large Director will provide an orientation. The Executive Director will be available for operational support throughout the term and is available to answer any questions.

Commitment: 2 year, renewable term; 2-6 hours per month.
