Description:

Cognitive and Mental Health Special Interest Group Student Liaison: This position is held by a student or early professional (within 2 years of graduation) who serves on the Cognitive and Mental Health SIG as a bridge of knowledge and communication to student members of the SIG as well as an ambassador to student members who are not part of the SIG. The student liaison reports to the SIG Chair and/or his/her/their designee.
Job Duties:
Quarterly

1. Collaborate with the APTA Geriatric Student SIG Communication Liaison to provide:

a. One topics of relevance from Cognitive and Mental Health SIG for student newsletter (Not limited to student spotlight, article, community highlight, upcoming education

2. Communicate with APTA Student Social Media Liaisons, SIG leadership, and APTA Geriatrics staff as needed to provide:

a. One social media post related to Cognitive and Mental Health SIG

b. One topic of relevance from Cognitive and Mental Health SIG to “For Students” section of the APTA Geriatrics website (Not limited to student spotlight, article, community highlight, upcoming education)



Throughout the year

· Answer all emails from the SIG leadership within 1 week of receipt to ensure optimal communication Assist or create one webinar or community outreach related to the SIG
· Contribute to the SIG’s newsletter with a section titled “Student Highlight” to foster student engagement and participation
· Work with the other executive committee members to disseminate clinically relevant tools for student members, if appropriate
· Participate in projects of the SIG, as able, to promote applicability to student members
· Author or co-author 1 article to GeriNotes for consideration of publication related to experience or content within the SIG
· Attend all SIG leadership conference calls/meetings (i.e., remote), as able
· Attend SIG member meetings (remote or in-person), as able
· Other duties as assigned by the SIG Chair and/or his/her/their designee


Term of the position: 1 year



Anticipated time commitment: ~4 hours/month
