Student members are appointed to Committees by the CPTA Board for terms of one (1) year, certain exceptions apply. Committee appointments are made by the CPTA Board at its December meeting each year. CAL-PT-PAC
Vacancies: 1
  • Raise funds for the California Physical Therapy Political Action Committee (CAL-PT-PAC)
  • Monitor contributions to key legislators
  • Two face-to-face and two virtual meetings each year

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Vacancies: 1

  • Build and sustain a community that embraces diversity, is inclusive and pursues equitable processes for CPTA members and the public.
  • Ensure that CPTA leaders and membership are aware of CPTAs efforts towards increasing and embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the CPTA.
  • Identify areas of specific need in relation to diversity, equity, and inclusion within the CPTA and act within the responsibilities of this committee and/or provide recommendations to the CPTA Board to meet those needs.
  • Develop and support opportunities within the CPTA that increases diversity of the CPTA Board and leadership.
  • Act as a liaison to the profession, public and members for resources and educational opportunities in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Collaborate with CPTA to increase diversity of membership, including underrepresented physical therapists and physical therapist assistants as well as student physical therapists and student physical therapist assistants.
  • Review CPTA policy statements and when necessary provide recommendations to the CPTA Board for revision and/or amendment to reflect diverse, equitable, and inclusive processes in the CPTA.
  • Collaborate with APTA to assist CPTA efforts in creating diverse, equitable and inclusive experiences and opportunities for members.
  • One face-to-face and two virtual meetings each year.

Education
Vacancies: 2 

  • Annually review and updateeducational plan for CPTA Annual Conference
  • Plan program and instructional courses for CPTA Annual Conference
  • Review and select podium and poster presentations for Chapter Annual Conference
  • Plan continuing education courses/workshops/seminars
  • Plan educational content for California Student Conclave
  • Assist in planning of the annual CAL-PT-FUND Research Symposium
  • Monitor all levels of education
  • Up to Three (3) face-to-face or virtual meetings (February, July and November)
  • Quarterly conference calls

Government Affairs
Vacancies: 1 

  • Adopt CPTA positions on legislation and regulation affecting physical therapy
  • Respond to legislative/regulatory issues
  • Monitor State and Federal government affairs activities and provide comment
  • Two face-to-face and four virtual meetings each year

Membership and Communications
Vacancies: 1 

  • Plan annual membership campaign and activities
  • Establish membership recruitment goals
  • Create criteria for school presentations
  • Improve communications between all levels of the CPTA organizational structure
  • Ensure that members are fully aware of the efforts of the CPTA on their behalf
  • Serve as liaisons to Districts, Special Interest Groups and PT/PTA schools
  • Promote the practice of physical therapy to the public
  • Solicit authors for MoveCalifornia presentations
  • Write articles for PT Interventions
  • Two face-to-face and three virtual meetings each year

Payment Policy

  • Seek appropriate reimbursement policies for physical therapists
  • Seek inclusion of services of physical therapists in all health insurance plans
  • Make available information concerning various reimbursement issues
  • Monitor APTA reimbursement and insurance activities
  • Two face-to-face and three virtual meetings each year
Quality Practice

  • Provide information and consultation on quality service activities to members
  • Represent CPTA to agencies interested in quality service activities
  • Present information to membership on practice compliance issues
  • Take CPTA positions on practice issues
