Volunteer Opportunity Details

Attention all Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants and students. The National Senior Games is coming to Pittsburgh July 7-16, 2023. Our goal is to provide fitness screens via the Senior Athlete Fitness Exam (SAFE) to over 1,000 athletes. To do this we need at least 200 volunteers. Succient training in the SAFE will be provided online in advance. This is a perfect opportunity to see what is possible with active aging, to be inspired by older athletes and to serve a population that is often overlooked. This will be the 7^th time the SAFE has been offered at the National Senior Games with athletes and volunteers consistently overjoyed by the experience. 99% of volunteers last year reported that this improved their perception of aging. The event is supported by the National Senior Games, APTA and APTA Geriatrics.

This is a great opportunity for providers and students alike. Volunteers will be assigned to a station that fits their level of education. If you are a course or program director please consider integrating this into your summer curriculum. It is appropriate for courses or residencies related to orthopedics, sports, geriatrics, cardiovascular/pulmonary and neuro as well as health promotion/prevention, service and leadership.
