APTA National - Nomination for CMS Quality Measure Technical Expert Panels

Starts: 06-16-2020

Description:

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) employs a transparent process in the selection and specification of quality measures. One way CMS collects feedback is by tasking measure contractors to convene technical expert panels (TEPs).

Throughout the year, APTA nominates members to serve on relevant TEPs. TEP members provide technical input to a CMS quality measure contractor on the development, selection, and maintenance of measures for which the contractor is responsible. Generally, TEP members inform the direction and development of a measure and provide input on potential revisions to the measure throughout the development process.

APTA Engage is being utilized to identify individuals who are interested in being nominated by APTA to serve on TEPs that advise CMS contractors in the development and maintenance of quality measures. Potential candidates should have background, expertise, and an interest in quality measurement, and if selected, must be willing and able to represent the physical therapy profession in its entirety.

This is not an APTA-appointed position. When APTA nominates a candidate, the nomination is sent directly to the CMS Quality Measure Contractor. The federal contractor is responsible for selecting appointees and any future communications on appointment status will come directly from the federal contractor.

A TEP is a group of stakeholders and experts who provide technical input to a measure contractor on the development, selection, and maintenance of measures for which the contractor is responsible. Each TEP has different project objectives, such as providing input on the selection, development, and maintenance of measures. Generally, TEP members inform the direction and development of a measure and provide input on potential revisions to the measure throughout the development process.

This opportunity may require travel to Baltimore, MD, and follow-up calls and webinars, with an estimated 25-30 hours total commitment. Specific dates are not available at this time.
